Mission
EPBA is the official and authoritative European Association, which pro-actively monitors and promotes the common interests of the portable battery and related industries with respect to primary as well as rechargeable batteries.
Our mission is to ensure that the ideal conditions are created for the responsible development of the portable battery industry in Europe. Acting in the common interests of all of its members, the EPBA aims to sustain a competitive industry in an increasingly complex policy and legislative climate.
The Association is an influential European trade organisation with contacts at the highest levels with industry, European Union institutions and international bodies, as well as national battery associations and national or regional governmental bodies. We work closely with national battery collection and recycling organisations that are set up by our members.
EPBA enjoys excellent cooperation including regular trilateral exchanges and events with its counterparts worldwide, in particular in the US with the National Electrical Manufacturers Association and in Japan with the Battery Association of Japan.
Structure and Members
The EPBA is structured around the General Assembly of members and its Board of Directors who are supported by a number of Working Groups and the Permanent Secretariat in Brussels.
Each Working Group is charged with monitoring developments and making recommendations in a different area directly affecting the members. The following working groups are active:
-
Government Affairs Working Group: examines all issues relating to national and EU legislation affecting the environment
-
Operations Working Group: pro-actively handles issues related to the collection and recycling of portable batteries
-
Statistical Working Group: collects data on the industry
The members of each Working Group are drawn from EPBA member companies. |
